The DigniCare Program

The DigniCare Program is a flagship initiative of Centrumberliner Medical Centre (CBMC) that empowers, protects, and restores the dignity of girls and women in Kajiado West and beyond. It addresses urgent challenges, including gender-based violence (GBV), child marriage, teenage pregnancy, female genital mutilation, period poverty, and disability-related exclusion, while advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

By combining healthcare, psychosocial support, mentorship, dignity kits, and inclusive advocacy, the program ensures that no girl or woman, including those with disabilities, is left behind.

  • Prevent child marriage and teenage pregnancy through education, mentorship, and access to SRHR services.
  • Promote menstrual health and inclusion by tackling period poverty, shaming, and disability-related barriers.

  • Build inclusive, safe, and supportive community environments through multi-stakeholder engagement.

  • 30% reduction in teenage pregnancies in Kajiado West.
  • 10,000 girls and young women reached with mentorship and SRHR services.
  • 200+ champions trained in disability-sensitive health promotion.
  • Improved school retention, SRHR access, and community inclusion for girls and women with disabilities

Why It Matters

Girls and women, including those with disabilities, face double discrimination, from gender inequalities and disability stigma. Many experience higher risks of GBV, exclusion from SRHR services, and are often the first left behind in emergencies. By embedding disability inclusion at every stage, the DigniCare Program stands as a model of equity, dignity, and health for all.
